Meditation Teachers Training Course
Introduction
Daily meditation practice brings peace of mind, inner joy and inner peace. By increasing control over your mind, every practice brings you closer and closer to your own Self, the center of your being filled with joy, wisdom and bliss.
Additionally, studies have shown that the regular practice of meditation can assist one in lowering blood pressure, decreasing stress, and by bringing a host of other health benefits.
You will get the full Ananda (Bliss) of the divine glory only when you merge deep into silent meditation. Swami Sivananda
When you meditate regularly your mind is clearer and more focused, thereby improving your quality of life and allowing you to perform better and more quickly all tasks you choose to be involved in. Not only can meditation help you reach your goals quicker, but also and more importantly, it can guide you in setting better and wiser goals in life.
Millions of yoga students and others want to learn meditation. By taking this course you can provide the guidance they are looking for.
Many yoga students mistakingly think that yoga is just an exercise system, and so when they want to explore spiritual teachings and learn meditation or practice it intensively, they turn to the Buddhist tradition. The MTTC is for you whether you would like to teach the authentic meditation from India (dhyana yoga) or if you simply want to get a solid foundation in its practice and theory.
The training program offers a well-rounded, serious introduction to the traditional techniques of yoga meditation, with particular emphasis on japa and mantras. By the end of the course you will also have a clear understanding of the philosophy of advaita vedanta and the theory of meditation (raja yoga).
Open to Yoga Teachers of all Traditions & to Practitioners of All Levels
Although the Advaita Yoga Ashrama belongs to the tradition of Swami Sivananda, we welcome yoga teachers and students of all styles and traditions. Meditation is a universal practice and can be combined with whichever style of hatha yoga one practices. If you belong to a different tradition all we ask is that you come with an open mind.
Also, even though prior experience with yoga and/or meditation will be useful, the training course is open to everyone, from complete beginners to adepts.
Learn from an experienced meditator and teacher. Swami Atma has been teaching yoga and meditation since 1987 and has taught International Yoga Teachers Training Courses and Advanced Teachers Training Courses with the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers, Yoga Vidya, The Texas Yoga & Ayurveda Institute and Yoga Rasa in the USA (California, New York, Texas & Hawaii), India, the Bahamas, Canada, Germany and Costa Rica. He founded the Advaita Yoga Ashrama (AYA) in 2001 and premiered the first Meditation Teachers Training Course (MTTC) offered in North America.

Meals
We will serve two vegetarian meals and a mid-afternoon snack daily.
These meals will be prepared according to the standard yogic diet - lacto-vegetarian with no meats, fish, eggs, mushrooms, onions or garlic. Abstaining from the last two is especially important in relation to obtaining success in meditation.
Texts & Manuals
All students will be provided with a complete manual and a basic meditation course manual.
Required books that the students should bring are "Meditation & Mantras" by Swami Vishnu-devananda, "Concentration & Meditation" by Swami Sivananda and the Sivananda Companion to Meditation authored by SYVC.
These titles are available in our online yoga store and you will also be able to purchase them at the ashram at the beginning of the course. Getting them in advance would allow you to read them before the course and that would constitute a good preparation.
