    March of the Penguins

A couple weeks ago I went to see "The March of the Penguins" and like most people I have been charmed by this movie.

    Penguins

This movie is actually a documentary on the penguins living in Antarctica and how their lifestyle and community spirit allows them to deal with the extraordinary harsh conditions. It's truly inspiring.

Just a little problem: I did not pay attention and did not notice that the movie was not offered with subtitles so I missed most of the commentaries which were in German.

I got the gist anyway and really enjoyed the most beautiful images and scenery. Now I need to see it again, if possible in the original French.

On top of that I saw a documentary on the documentary. They were trying to analyze why this movie was so popular all over the world and they showed how they did some of the filming. The filmmakers were ecstatic with the way it turned out but they would like the American audience to know a few things:
    - This documentary is not American but actually, gasp, it's French. Produced, realized etc. by French people
    - The US is the only market where the film was not shown with the original commentary (3 voices: 1 male, 1 female, 1 child)
    - Morgan Freeman (the US narrator) is NOT the primary reason this movie has been so successful. The movie has been distributed in every other country in the world and it has been a hit everywhere with the original narration.

May be they'll put the option to get the original narration in the DVD, who knows. Enjoy the viewing.
